Another step forward

Now the previously excavated spoil from Pit 3 has dried out, the next step towards the creation of a dedicated tench and crucian water started this week with our contractor PW Groundworks returning to site for final shaping of the banks and digging out swim positions.
The work also involves the creation of a level strip around the inside of the predator fence and around the lake itself to allow for future maintenance. The work is expected to take a couple of weeks .
In addition, and to take advantage of plant being on site so as to keep costs down, work will also be done to grade back the bund along the length of Pit 4, widen the path opposite the swims, raise the low section of path that sometimes floods, and remove silt from the ditch to reduce blockages of the overflow pipes. This work will follow on from that on Pit 3 so will probably start in about a fortnight.
It will be necessary to close Pit 4 whilst this work is carried out. Dates will be confirmed for this when they are known. It may also be necessary to keep it closed for a time afterwards untill the paths are reinstated. Hopefully the latter will not be necessary but the committee will keep you posted so watch this space for further updates.
Photos show the first part of the work to provide level access adjacent the predator fence and grade the outside of the bank.

Good job! 👍
