HAPPY NEW YEAR & CAN YOU HELP
Well Happy New Year to everybody who is involved with the Society in whatever way, hopefully it will be a good one for everybody. As far as the Society goes, as ever, we continue to look forward in order to deliver improvements that benefit the Society as a whole. Whilst Pit 3 will not be available to fish untill the 2027 season, we will be looking to seed the banks and plant marginal aquatic plants this spring so that they can get established before introducing fish next w

Happy Christmas from the Chairman
Well it feels like the Society year has gone by in the blink of an eye, despite the amount of work that has been undertaken. The start of the year saw the work on the far bank of Pit 2 completed along with improvements along the near bank. New pipework to help maintain water levels in Pit 3 was also installed in addition to the usual general maintenance at both our Reydon and Kessingland sites. We were rewarded with some quality catches through out the year with probably the

A Big Thank You And Pit 4 Reopening
Thanks to our Head Water Bailiff Dean Bridges and the five members who answered our call to help this morning, Pit 4 will reopen from 12 noon today (8th November). The team put in a huge amount of effort to move wood chippings, mostly from outside the gate of Pit 2, and spread them over the disturbed area of path on Pit 4. Thanks also to our contractors PW Groundworks for completing the work on both Pits 3 and 4 within the agreed timescale and budget. Photos show the reinstat

Pit 4 reopening ?
Our contractor has completed all the heavy work on pits 3 and 4 but in order to reopen Pit 4 as quickly as possible we need our members to come forward and help to move, and spread, wood chippings along the areas of bank that have been disturbed. The ground is currently very dry but will cut up badly if it becomes wet and is walked on so time is of the essence. We have quite a few wheel barrows available but if you have one then please bring it along together with any shovel

Pit 1 Continues to give good sport
Pit 1 continues to give good sport as it has throughout the season. Robin Dawes, a day ticket, angler banked a pristine 21lb 6oz common from peg 10 today the 4th November. Two similar catches fell to Dan with a 21lb 8oz common on the 28th of September and Dave Garner with a 20lb 12oz common on the 11th of August.

Pit 3 update & Pit 4 closure
Work is progressing well on Pit 3 with the digger work likely to be completed on Friday October 31st. The video shows some precision work by PW Groundworks driver (Derek) to cut swims into the bank and leave "shoulders" to support decking. This will also create fish refuges below the platforms to counter potential cormorant predation. Once digger work is complete on Pit 3, the digger will move onto Pit 4. Work will be done to reprofile the bund between pegs 4 and 7, increase

Another step forward
Now the previously excavated spoil from Pit 3 has dried out, the next step towards the creation of a dedicated tench and crucian water started this week with our contractor PW Groundworks returning to site for final shaping of the banks and digging out swim positions. The work also involves the creation of a level strip around the inside of the predator fence and around the lake itself to allow for future maintenance. The work is expected to take a couple of weeks . In addit

Silvers showing in Pit 1
Peter Turrell with a 20lb bag of mainly Ide from Pit 1 Follows several reports of bags of Bream up to 60lb, Pit 1 is now producing great bags of Ide. Stocked a couple of years ago, there were initial comments that the cormorants had taken then all but the reed fringed lake obviously provided sufficient fish refuges. Great to see they are now providing sport later in the year.

Reminder of Open Meeting
All members are invited to the Society Open Meeting being held on Thursday 23rd October, 7.45pm for 8pm start, at the Sailors Reading Room, East Cliff, Southwold, IP18 6EL.
