Welcome back to all of our existing members and a big hello to new members joining the society this year. We would like to take this opportunity to let everyone know about the White Boxes on the Reydon Complex and on our Kessingland site. The boxes contain several things including Membership Application forms. Opening Day Access To Reydon Complex
Opening Day Access To Reydon Complex Members will be aware that we ask everybody who visits the Reydon Complex to close the main access gate as soon as they have passed through it. Previous opening days have seen ques forming outside the gate waiting for the opening time, this has caused noise nuisance to the immediate neighbours with subsequent complaints. To help avoid this, FOR THE OPENING DAY ONLY, the gate will be left in the open position up until the point Bill, our

All Spick & Span and a big thank you
The final polishing has been done to get the Reydon complex ready to open on the 1st June. As well as the more obvious work that can be seen on site and in the photos, alot of work has been done to remove snags created by overhanging and submerged branches on Pits 1, 2 and 4. As ever, there is more to do, but the efforts so far have reduced the chances of fish getting tethered should the worse happen. As well as more general work, including filling potholes, the bank rebuildi

All Go In The Society
With the season almost upon us there is still plenty of work going on. For those of you who have paid your subscriptions, both new and existing members, your new Membership Books and associated paperwork was put in the post this morning. As advised in the offer of membership letter to new members, there will be a pause in sending out any others until the 1st June. Meanwhile, volunteers continue to work hard on our work parties. The massive amount of brushwood arising from the

Emails were sent out at 5 past midnight so please check your in box and spam folders. For those who did not provide an email address, offers will be posted this morning. R Stops Play
Due to a variety of reasons, only 2 of us were able to attend today's work party at Reydon. With a poor weather forecast we fully expected rain to stop play. We actually got away with the weather until lunch time but another R made an impact. We all love seeing Robins when we are fishing but don't really expect to find them making a nest in a hole in a heap of bark chippings. We will obviously have to leave the heap until the young fledge but unfortunately it will cause some

*Don't miss the chance for a fish like this*
If you have not already posted your subscription renewals then you are probably too late to renew unless you hand deliver your payment to the Membership Secretary. Address details and subscription rates are shown on the paying in slip at the back of the AGM invitations. BACS payments are not accepted, only cash, cheques or postal orders. The deadline for payment is midnight this Friday (15th May). The photo shows a beautiful Crucian Carp caught by Jordan Baptiste last year, h

Two Milestones and a lot of hard work.
Tomorrow sees another milestone in our development of Pit 3 as an exclusively tench and crucian water. Planting of native marginal plants will start with 1000 being collected from our suppliers today, thanks go to Dean and Ged for picking them up from Thetford. A work party starts at 8am, if you can help then please do. Best to have waders / chest waders and some sharp spades would be useful as they are being planted in clay. The other milestone is that our waiting list hit

WORK UPDATE
Since the Reydon site closed at the end of February, Leon Crossman, our tree surgeon from Wren Tree Surgery has been busy helping us to manage our trees. The large Alders on Pit 2 have become a problem, partly due to their size but also because of the huge amount of seeds they have been producing. To reduce the risk of them overwhelming the planted coir rolls and areas of banks we have cleared, some of those on Pit 2 have been removed. Others will, in due course, need heavy p

WORK PARTIES
Work parties continue on our sites and, whilst good progress is being made, we could always do with more help to carry out essential maintenance whilst also making improvements where we can. Our next one is tomorrow (Thursday) at 10am on the Reydon site (and most Thursdays until we reopen). Saturday work parties also continue at Reydon and start at 8am. Work at Kessingland is carried out on Monday evenings from 6pm (excluding this bank holiday). The Committee would like to

Preparations for the season ahead
The committee have been busy organising contractors and work parties in preparation for reopening the Reydon site on the 1st June and to start the programme of improvements at Kessingland. PW Groundworks provided labour and machinery to help move heavy materials for new swim backs on Pit 4 and move bark chippings nearer to where they are needed. This has allowed the work parties to make better progress on other works. More updates will be given in future posts on those but th

UPDATE FOR SENIOR CITIZENS SUBSCRIPTIONS
It was agreed at the AGM to increase the age at which a member can pay the Senior Citizen subscription rate from 65 to 67. This has caught a few people in the trap of having been a senior citizen last year but a senior this year. Having reflected on this, the committee have agreed that this should not be applied retrospectively. In other words, if you paid as a senior citizen last year then you can still pay as one this year despite not yet being 67. We have been able to iden

PRESENTATION OF TIGER TROPHY
This year's award for making an outstanding contribution to the Society was presented to Paul Moss. Chairman Barry Reid said that Paul had been a key person in undertaking maintenance work on the Reydon complex for many years. Whilst others have assisted in carrying out some of the work, the quality of the design and materials used had been mainly down to Paul. He certainly set a very high standard and the committee often got feedback on how good the swims are. He went on to

EGM and AGM Report
Chairman Barry Reid welcomed 54 members to the Societies Extraordinary General Meeting which preceded the 54th Annual General Meeting, an impressive number and certainly the most there had been in attendance in many years. The EGM had been arranged as, in order to gain consistency between the rules that had been put forward in order to safeguard the long term security of all of the Society assets, there was a need to update an existing rule that could only be amended at an EG

Milestone Reached
Friday saw a milestone reached with our project to establish Pit 3 as a specialist Crucian Carp and Tench water. The Environment Agency's Calverton Fish Farm had a particularly successful spawning year with their Crucian Carp, so much so they had too many to bring on in their stock ponds. A quantity was passed on to the regional Fisheries Officer for distribution and as the Society has regular contact with him he was aware of our project and offered us some of the fish. The f

NOT LONG LEFT
Just a reminder that if the better weather is tempting you out for a session on the banks, there's not long left to give Reydon a go . The Reydon complex closes at 6.30pm this Saturday, the 28th February. Fishing has been a bit on the slow side but Pit 1 is producing a few bream in the 3 to 4lb bracket along with carp from mid teens to mid twenties. The occasional Tench is also making an appearance. Two of the Pit 1 carp landed today are shown in the photos with Robin Daws la
