HAPPY NEW YEAR & CAN YOU HELP

Well Happy New Year to everybody who is involved with the Society in whatever way, hopefully it will be a good one for everybody.

As far as the Society goes, as ever, we continue to look forward in order to deliver improvements that benefit the Society as a whole.

Whilst Pit 3 will not be available to fish untill the 2027 season, we will be looking to seed the banks and plant marginal aquatic plants this spring so that they can get established before introducing fish next winter.

We will also be looking to rebuild and improve pegs at our Kessingland site once we have gained agreement with the riparian owners on what we would like to do.

Whilst these are significant elements of work, we will still have to do the usual maintenance on trees, banks, paths and platforms.

This all takes a considerable amount of effort and, unfortunately, this mainly falls on less than a handful of people to organise. We desperately need to share the workload out to beyond those who are basically reaching their capacity.

To that end I would like you all to consider if you could lend a hand in some way or other.

We still don't have a Secretary and filling the vacant position would reduce the burden on others and free them up to do other things, can you help?

The committee have suggested that people may be worried about putting themselves forward for something that they are uncertain about what it involves. To that end a basic description of the role has been put forward as shown below.

Whoever eventually comes forward will not be cast adrift, they will be given full support, any necessary training and eased into things, only taking things on as they feel comfortable in doing so.

There is also the option of attending a meeting or two before committing to taking on the role. We have a new committee member, Carl Hawes, who was co-opted on to the committee having done exactly that.

Now is the perfect time to dip a toe in the water on this one as there are just 2 meetings before our AGM in April so if you are interested then please get in touch with Chairman Barry Reid, initially for a quick chat, on 07484136385.

Meetings usually take place at 7.30pm the first Thursday of each month.

Why not try and make this the year that you give something back to the sport, and the Society
