Kessingland Lake

Closed season closures on the River Waveney and our Reydon site means attention turns to our lake in Kessingland as it remains open for all 12 months of the year.

As the water does not have the benefit of a predator fence the Society introduces new stock most years, indeed, this forms part of our lease agreement as part of the rent is paid for in fish.

The Committee had hoped to stock some Ide last year but, due to the lakes location, the Environment Agency would not support the introduction and it was too late in the year to obtain an alternative species. Consequently, it was decided to roll two years stocking into one and the decision was made to add more tench.

These were stocked into the water about a month ago. Not large but the 330 seven to nine inch fish will hopefully boost sport in the years to come.

There were even a handful of golden tench amongst them which should add some interest. Will you be the first person to catch one of them? Let us know if you do
