PRESENTATION OF TIGER TROPHY

This year's award for making an outstanding contribution to the Society was presented to Paul Moss.

Chairman Barry Reid said that Paul had been a key person in undertaking maintenance work on the Reydon complex for many years. Whilst others have assisted in carrying out some of the work, the quality of the design and materials used had been mainly down to Paul. He certainly set a very high standard and the committee often got feedback on how good the swims are.

He went on to say that once Paul gets the bit between his teeth there is no stopping him and he has spent many days (yes days not hours) working on his own to achieve his vision of what needs to be done.

His work supporting the 50th anniversary project had been exceptional, even to the point of staying on the banks of Pit 3 overnight to keep the pump working to make sure all of the water was pumped out before the contractor moved on to site.

Paul started to make this contribution as a straightforward member of the Society but then in 2019 he took on the role of Treasurer. He has carefully planned and managed finances so that the Society has been able to deliver what it has. Now stepping down as Treasurer he leaves the Society in a strong financial position.

As if that weren’t enough, Paul took on the responsibility of creating, developing and managing a fantastic website. Last year he was also appointed as a Trustee, filling one of the two positions previously held by John Purdy and Archie Maclean.

This award is not given out automatically when people step down, you have to have made an outstanding contribution to the Society. Paul has certainly done that and is a very worthy recipient. He was also made an Honorary Life Member to further recognise this.
