Urgent Notice Pit 1 Closed

Regrettably Sherwood Water pit 1 at Reydon has been closed until futher notice due to an oxygen level crash. Whilst there are signs of fish distress no fatalities have been found. Temporary measures to oxygenate the water are in place.


Pits 2 and 4 are being closely monitored but remain open to members at the moment.


Futher information will be provided as the situation changes.

fishing suspended at holton pits lake near halesworth,after the environment agency was called to save several fish,a large quantity of fish in the lake gasping for air at the surface of the water.

was they today,a lot of fish at top,why has the club not got a aerator,as we will soon have 4 lakes,??

Society members should be aware that we do have an aerator and it has been employed on Pit 4 which is much more susceptible to oxygen crashes, particularly as it is shallow and weedy. We also have a three inch pump to provide flexibility in our response to such events, indeed, this has been deployed onto pit 1 this afternoon. Waters are regularly monitored using a dissolved oxygen meter to monitor oxygen levels and this is what alerted us to the situation today and resulted in a committee response.

As well as looking after our stock, we have to be respectful of residents in adjacent properties and the noise impact using aerators would have as they need to be used…
