Year of the Tench and a forgetful angler

Well this really does seem to be the year of the tench with fish feeding throughout the day on both Reydon pits 1 and 2 with between 4 and a dozen per session. Archie Mclean reported two fish of 6lb and 7lb in his catch of 4 from pit 2. Not to be outdone, Pit 1 is delivering large numbers of quality tench including a particularly large one to David Hebborn, not weighed but as shown in the nice picture below.

Crucians also continue to show from the two pits with our Treasurer Paul Moss over the moon with his Pit 1 fish at 2lb 1oz.

Carp are showing well on Pits 1 and 4 with a new lake record fish from the latter at 29lb 1oz landed by Brandon Savoury, well done Brandon.

On a more disappointing note we have received reports of some poor fish handling by a couple of members on pit 1. It is totally unacceptable to drop a carp onto an unhooking mat, or stand up with one and allow it to drop to the ground or to lay a fish directly on the ground. Unfortunately, by the time these matters were reported it was too late for anybody to go to the lake to take any action.

The Committee urges anybody observing anything that gives concern to speak to the person involved (all members are entitled, and encouraged, to act as bailiffs) and to contact a bailiff or committee member straight away.

Our waters are known for the quality of the fish we have and we want to keep it that way. Firm action will be taken against anybody found to be mishandling fish.

Finally, a forgetful angler has left a carp weigh / retaining net on pit 2 (on the 19th June). If it is yours then please contact us and we will put you in touch with the person who found it. He has taken it home for safety and will arrange a convenient time for pick up.

I was so chuffed to be declared the record holder for pit 4 with this superb fish of 28lb 9oz, my joy was short lived though as only a few days later Brandon has knocked me off the podium, well done Brandon that's a lovely looking fish 😎.
