Good News For All Anglers

I said on the last post that things were changing pretty quickly but didn't expect the latest change of direction in Government advice so soon. Having said all angling was banned from the time lockdown commenced, just 48 hours later they have now confirmed that, subject to conditions, angling is now permitted during lockdown.

This followed some intense lobbying by the Angling Trust so yet again we are indebted to them and we should all consider taking up individual membership. There are to be no matches, no overnight fishing (neither being a problem for our Society) and you must fish locally (no travelling outside the district you live in). The link to the full Angling Trust advice is below.

Could I remind anybody fishing Society waters that you must follow both the current Government advice / rules as well as any Society rules. In particular, only people from the same household can fish in some previously designated and signed areas of our waters.

Could I also take this opportunity to thank bailiff Bill Dunk, Minute Secretary Les Ellis, and River bailiff Steve Lane for their timely assistance in getting signage and locks sorted. Secretary Paul Watson and Treasurer Paul Moss for urgently updating Facebook, the website and arranging a group email. Also the landowners for their understanding and continued support.

All Society waters will be available to fish again from tomorrow (8th January 2020)
