Important Update

Disease Control

Just a reminder to everybody that we all have a shared responsibility to protect the stock in our waters by taking some simple precautions to prevent the spread of disease.

Before people start screaming "put in dip tanks", these have been previously investigated and discussed with the Environment Agency and they are both difficult to manage and difficult to ensure they are properly used.

The preferred method is to take a few simple biosecurity precautions using the check, clean dry process. This should apply to all nets, weigh slings, mats, cloths, stink bags, boots etc. In fact anything that may come into contact with fish slime or water. Drying needs to be done in direct sunlight to be most effective, not in a garage, shed or left in a bag. Fish diseases have been reported in the Suffolk area so following these simple steps is the best way for us all to try and protect our fish and fishery.

Multi Hook Rigs

One of our members has rightly raised concerns about ready tied two hook "carp rigs" being advertised on some of the cheap online sites. His concern came about following bailiffs, on another club he is a member of, having found some of these rigs on their waters. These rigs should not be used on Society waters.

Rod Recovered From Reydon Pit 1

One of the rods dragged into Pit 1 by a large fish (mentioned in the last post) has been recovered. If you think it is one of yours then please contact the Chairman so that we can arrange for it to be returned to you.

Great Season Continues.

Other than for a 2 week spell following the long awaited rain, and despite lower than usual numbers of people fishing the waters this season, all pits continue to fish well with good sport from the carp as well as mixed bags of bream, tench and crucians.

However, there is a distinct lack of photographs being submitted for us to either publish on line or just for our information. Receipt of photos really helps the Committee to manage Society waters and we will never publish a photo without the anglers permission to do so.

Photos of our waters or of people fishing are also nice to receive.

Please consider sharing anything you think may be of interest.

Work Parties.

The Monday evening work parties continue at Kessingland until the nights draw in. Meet between 6 and 6.30pm. The number of Thursday work parties at Reydon has been reduced for the summer months due to various holidays and because we employ a contractor for path cutting through the summer. However, the next one will be at 10am on Thursday 28th August, meet on the car park. It would be great to see a few new faces.
