Work to prepare the bank side ready for the installation of pre-planted coir rolls has continued at a pace and we must thank all of those involved in this major project to stabilise the far bank of Pit 2.
This was always going to be challenging and the Committee have previously warned that there may need to be closures during the season to complete the works. Unfortunately this has proven to be the case and the difficult decision has been made to close Pit 2 on the 1st June, the opening day of our season at Reydon. However, as the work will not start until 8am, and the site opens at 3.30am (which would still give a reasonable time for members to fish) it has been decided that the water will close from 8am untill 4pm. This will not impact on any of the other waters which will be available as usual. The Committee wish to apologise for any inconvenience caused.
The pre-season newsletter also states that Pit 2 may also need to close on the following two Saturdays, namely the 8th and 15th June. With the closure on the 1st June these additional days may not be needed and the Committee will keep members informed of any changes to the work programme, obviously striving to keep closures to a minimum.
Work has also continued on our Kessingland Lake site with our Monday evening work parties working hard to maintain the water and ensure that we can fish in safety, a good example being the rebuilding of the platform on peg 1 as shown in the photo. Again we are indebted to the few who continue to give up their time to do this and the Committee wish to thank them for their efforts.
Membership books for the coming season have been posted out today (23rd May) for all members who have renewed their subscriptions and for new members whose payments were received by the 22nd May. As explained in the emails to successful applicants, no further books will be posted out to new members untill after the 1st June.
Don't forget to look at your new book covers to check this years code for our combination locks at Reydon and Kessingland as the numbers change on 1st June.
With £9,000 of new stock having been introduced into our waters over the last 12 months, we are all looking forward to seeing what the new season brings.
